EMP Is Bringing a Personal Touch to Mustang Rear Seat Deletes

From custom logos and CNC-engraved artwork to lightweight construction, Evans Motorsport Performance is turning a familiar Mustang modification into something much more personal.

For years, removing the rear seats has been a popular modification among Mustang enthusiasts looking to shed some unnecessary weight. Whether it’s a dedicated drag car, weekend track toy, or street-driven Mustang that rarely sees passengers in the back, a rear seat delete has always been a relatively straightforward upgrade.

The downside? Most rear seat delete kits look pretty much the same. You remove the factory seats, install a few black panels, and call it a day.

That’s where Evans Motorsport Performance (EMP) is doing things a little differently. The company has taken the traditional Mustang rear seat delete and turned it into an opportunity to personalize the interior, with custom logos, lettering, graphics, and even full-color designs.

More Than Just a Rear Seat Delete

What makes EMP’s approach interesting isn’t necessarily the idea of removing the rear seats. Mustang owners have been doing that for decades. It’s what the company is doing with the space left behind.

EMP offers customized rear seat delete kits for 2005–2026+ Mustangs, covering the S197, S550, and S650 generations. Customers can provide logos, artwork, lettering, and design ideas for the rear panel. Depending on the design, options include CNC engraving, cut details, hand-painted accents, and printed graphics.

A Shelby GT500 owner might choose an oversized Cobra emblem, while someone with a ROUSH Mustang could incorporate matching branding. Others have added custom artwork, social media identities, and graphics that tie into the overall theme of their cars.

One drift-oriented S197 uses vibrant pink, blue, and white graphics across the rear panel. Another Mach 1 features a green Grinch-inspired design with a humorous message. These are the kinds of touches that make the interior feel like an extension of the build, rather than an area where the factory seats simply went missing.

Built With Functionality in Mind

Of course, the custom appearance is only part of the story. EMP manufactures its seat delete kits from lightweight, textured ABS plastic rather than the plywood or fiberboard sometimes used in basic seat delete setups.

According to EMP, its S550 kit can remove up to 30 pounds compared with the factory rear seating arrangement, depending on configuration. Removing the factory rear seats also opens up space underneath the panels that may be useful for neatly packaging certain electronics, audio components, or other equipment.

No Cutting Required

One of the biggest considerations with any interior modification is whether it requires permanent changes to the vehicle. For its S550 application, EMP says its slip-on and bolt-in kit installs without cutting factory interior panels or removing the original seat brackets and belts.

That makes the modification reversible: owners can reinstall the factory rear seats if they decide to return the car to its original configuration. EMP also notes that some custom applications can accommodate roll cages, nitrous systems, and other equipment, with fitment evaluated for the individual build.

Made in Texas, Personalized for Mustang Owners

A Different Approach to a Familiar Mustang Modification

There’s no shortage of aftermarket parts available for Mustangs, and rear seat deletes certainly aren’t anything new. But that’s what makes EMP’s approach worth looking at.

Instead of treating a rear seat delete strictly as a weight-reduction modification, the company has combined functionality with something Mustang owners already enjoy doing: making their cars their own. Some want a subtle logo on a black panel; others want a design that immediately catches your attention through the rear window.

For anyone considering removing the rear seats from an S197, S550, or S650 Mustang, these custom kits offer an alternative to the usual plain-panel approach.

More information about the options is available on EMP’s personalized Mustang rear seat delete product page.
