Ford’s return to the top class of endurance racing is moving into a more demanding stage of development. According to RACER’s October 12 report, the manufacturer plans to add a second running Hypercar to its testing program and begin dedicated endurance testing.
The ORECA-based, 5.4-liter V8-powered prototype had already run at Paul Ricard, Portimão, and Silverstone. Monza was scheduled as the next step, with the second test car joining the program there.
More Running, More Answers
Program manager Dan Sayers told RACER that two cars would allow the team to divide work between control systems and mechanical setup. The first endurance test was planned for Motorland Aragón in November, followed by further testing at Sebring in the new year.
Ford was targeting the end of 2026 for homologation readiness ahead of its planned 2027 World Endurance Championship debut. Sayers described durability and systems development as continuing priorities.
The update concerns development progress; it does not establish an official model name for the car.
