Ford’s 2027 Mustang color lineup is getting a shakeup. Precision Purple Metallic is coming to the EcoBoost, GT and Dark Horse, while the Dark Horse SC gets its own new shade of green. At the same time, two popular blues are disappearing. If you’re thinking about ordering a 2027 Mustang, the paint selection might be one of the first decisions worth sorting out.
Our friends at Mustang Fan Club reviewed Ford’s October 15, 2026 order guides and put together a detailed breakdown of every color, paint code and trim restriction. We wanted to focus on the changes Mustang enthusiasts will notice most.
Precision Purple Is the Big New 2027 Mustang Color
Precision Purple Metallic (paint code CR) is the headline addition for 2027. Ford is offering it across the Mustang family, including the EcoBoost, GT, Dark Horse and Dark Horse SC. It’s an extra-cost paint option, but unlike some special colors, you won’t need to step up to a Dark Horse just to order it.
Purple has a pretty memorable history on Mustangs, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one looks outside the studio and under different lighting. For someone ordering a new S650 who wants to stand out from the usual gray, black and white, this could be the color to watch.
The Dark Horse SC Gets Incognito Green
Incognito Green Metallic (C5) is another newcomer, but this one is exclusive to the 2027 Dark Horse SC. It isn’t an option on the regular GT or standard Dark Horse. The SC also gets Precision Purple, giving buyers of Ford’s supercharged Mustang two fresh choices for the model year.
With the SC’s aggressive styling, we’re especially curious to see Incognito Green on an actual car. Ford hasn’t released an official look at the color yet, but some enthusiasts have pointed to Field Green on the Bronco Filson Edition as a possible match. Knowing Ford’s history of using similar colors across different models, it’s an interesting possibility, although nothing has been confirmed.
For now, here’s a look at the green Bronco to give us an idea of what we might see on the new Dark Horse SC.

Blue Ember and Vapor Blue Are Out for 2027
Two colors that Mustang owners have grown familiar with aren’t carrying over: Vapor Blue Metallic and Blue Ember Metallic. The latter has been closely tied to the Dark Horse Appearance Package, and it’s probably the one we’ll miss most.
Ford isn’t abandoning blue altogether. Argon Blue Metallic, previously offered on the Dark Horse SC, moves to the regular Dark Horse when equipped with the 700A Dark Horse Appearance Package (54C). That’s an important detail: you can’t simply select Argon Blue on any Mustang GT or base Dark Horse.
Oxford White also drops off the Dark Horse SC’s color chart, although it remains available on the EcoBoost, GT and standard Dark Horse.
Which Colors Can You Get on a 2027 Mustang GT?
For the 2027 Mustang GT and GT Premium, Ford lists nine exterior colors: Adriatic Blue Metallic, Avalanche Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat, Oxford White, Precision Purple Metallic, Race Red and Shadow Black Metallic. The EcoBoost lineup shares those nine choices.
The regular Dark Horse also has nine colors in its standard configurations, with Argon Blue available through the specific Appearance Package combination. The Dark Horse SC has eight choices, including its exclusive Incognito Green, but does not offer Molten Magenta, Orange Fury or Oxford White.
Are Any 2027 Mustang Colors Free?
Yes. Carbonized Gray Metallic, Oxford White and Shadow Black Metallic are listed as no-charge choices where they’re offered. Most of the brighter colors, including Precision Purple, carry an additional charge. Specific packages and interior selections can narrow the choices, so it’s worth checking the order guide before getting attached to one combination.
What’s the Best 2027 Mustang Color?
That’s going to come down to personal taste, but we’re looking forward to seeing Precision Purple on a GT and Incognito Green on the Dark Horse SC. On the other hand, losing Blue Ember is a tough trade for anyone who liked the signature Dark Horse look.
