The 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R remains one of the coolest Mustangs ever produced. Its towering rear wing, bold red paint and track-focused personality made it impossible to mistake for an ordinary Mustang.
Now imagine bringing that same attitude into the S650 era. These independent digital renderings reinterpret the Mustang Dark Horse SC with unmistakable Cobra R inspiration, and we’d love to see something like this become reality.

The huge rear wing immediately steals the show, but it’s the details that pull everything together: classic-style five-spoke wheels, side-exit exhaust, aggressive aero and a race-inspired cabin. The modern Mustang shape wears the throwback treatment surprisingly well.

Even the Cobra R-inspired seats and rear-end treatment carry through the theme.

With the Dark Horse SC already pushing the modern Mustang performance story forward, it’s fun to imagine what a new Cobra R could look like. This is fan-created concept artwork, not an official Ford design or production announcement, but we’d love to see the real thing.
Would you want Ford to bring back the Cobra R name?
